Competition! The rules Effective from: 14th October 2002 It is preferred that members participating should have a PayPal account (get one here) in order to be paid any winnings. If you cannot register for PayPal, and win a prize in the competition, we will gladly pay for something to the value of the prize from your Amazon Wishlist, or if necessary issue you with a personal check. Be aware however, checks can only be made out in Pounds Sterling (UK) and you will incurr charges if trying to cash at another nation's bank. If you are unsure how you will receive winnings, please clear up your preferred method by email (here) BEFORE starting participation. Referred sites can only be tracked by using the special competition link given to members of Top Student Cams. This system uses cookies and javascript, so users who are referred must have both technologies enabled on their browser to be tracked correctly. (This is the case for 99% of surfers). Sites which are referred by members must adhere to the Top Student Cams rules (no porn/non webcam sites, etc, see here) and also display their Top Student Cams links and/or pop behind in order to be a valid referral Members of Top Student Cams who are participating in the competition must be 'active' members of the list. This means they must have the voting banners and/or links and/or pop-behind code on their website at the time of participation and achieve more than zero hits 'IN' via the voting links in any one reset period. The webmaster of Top Student Cams reserves the right to remove sites from a member's referred data for the current competition: if the referred site breaks the Top Student Cams rules and/or has also been deleted from the list if the referred site does not display the Top Student Cams voting linkage and/or pop-behind code on their site by the end of the competition date if any cheating is suspected in order to artificially inflate the referral count Additions would be made to a member's competition data should the webmaster of Top Student Cams make a mistake, and/or the system not track a referrer correctly, and/or the new member explicitly asks for an existing member to be their referrer (only if they do not already have a referrer from someone else.) Any webmaster who is found referring duplicate sites in the same competition/between competitions will be banned from participation. Spamming people is not an acceptable way to promote the competition. Telling your friends via instant messaging and/or email and/or IRC is acceptable, as long as you are not making the information accessible to more than one person in one instance on these platforms. Incentivizing people to join the list in a fraudulent way is not allowed (e.g. "Sign up to student cams now and get <insert money/something else here>"). A mention of the competition/prizes is allowed, so long as the promotion is realistic, and provides no guarantees of payment to the potentially referred member. Top Student Cams cannot be held responsible for loss due to any issues out of the control of the webmaster such as server downtime and/or errors in tracking. Such issues, when raised will be delt with immediately and should be resolved quickly. In the event of the competition requiring a premature end, members will be notified as to the course of action decided upon as soon as is possible. At the end of the competition, winners will be primarily announced by email and on the site, both of which are subject to the judge's checking of the referred sites. An automated email will be sent to the winners, which should be replied to as instructed. Once a reply is received, final checking is done and if you are still entitled to the winnings (in case of no rule breaking, etc), you will then receive payment. Payment will only be given to those who reply to the automated correspondance, to eliminate fraud. Please allow up to 14 days for payment to be made. Any extention of this time will be made clear by the webmaster personally. If the email address Top Student Cams has on record for you is unreachable, we will try our best to contact you via any email addresses/contact info which may be on your web site. Failure to keep your email address up to date on our database (via your login area) may mean forfeiture of winnings. Winnings are as follows: $50 for 1st prize, $10 for 2nd prize and $5 for 3rd prize. Prizes are given to the members of Top Student Cams who have referred new members to the list (subject to the criteria mentioned above), in the manner of 'most referrers = 1st prize', sliding downwards to 3rd prize in order of how many referrers were made by individual members. The competition runs twice a month and coincides with the 'reset period' for the list, which is currently the 1st and 15th of every month. If there is a tie for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, the following happens: for tied 1st place - You will receive the total prize, divided by the number of people who won it, or $15, whichever is greater for tied 2nd place - You will receive $7. for tied 3rd place - You will receive $5. If receiving winnings through PayPal, your payment can be made in Pounds Sterling or Euros instead of US Dollars. Please request this when you receive the automated email at the end of the competition. An equivalent amount converted on the day of sending the funds will be calculated by PayPal as part of the transaction. If there are no 2nd and/or 3rd prize winners, the winner of the competition is only entitled to the one $50 prize and not the remaining prize(s). The judge's decision is final.
